The transcendence of our humanity lies in our acceptance of it.

Detachment alone is insufficient: we must learn (as T.S. Eliot puts it) both “to care and not to care” – because, ironically, the transcendence of our humanity lies in our acceptance of it. We are most Divine when we most unstintingly accept our humanity.
